The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has appealed to traditional rulers, communities and other stakeholders to support the institution’s infrastructure development drive.

Obamuyi made the appeal on Thursday, July 23, 2026, during his inaugural visits to the palaces of the Ajana of Okeagbe, the Owa-Ale Adimula of Ikare-Akoko and the Secretariat of Akoko North-West Local Government Area in Okeagbe-Akoko.

The Vice Chancellor, who was accompanied by members of the university management, said the visits were aimed at strengthening the institution’s relationship with key stakeholders and exploring partnerships to accelerate its development.

He urged the traditional rulers to mobilise their subjects, including sons and daughters of their communities, to support the university by sponsoring the construction of buildings and other landmark projects.

According to him, such projects could be named after the donors or their communities, thereby creating a lasting legacy within the university.

Obamuyi said AAUA remained committed to building enduring relationships with government authorities, traditional institutions and other stakeholders whose support would be critical to addressing its infrastructure needs.

At the Akoko North-West Local Government Secretariat, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Musa Olasehinde, who represented the Council Chairman, Hon. Esan Owolabi, assured the university management of the council’s support.

Olasehinde also pledged to make the council’s graders available for the university’s use, as requested by the Vice Chancellor.

At the palace of the Ajana of Okeagbe, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Samuel Arasanyin, Aroke Agba I, the monarch welcomed the initiative and pledged his support for the VC’s call for the community and its indigenes to contribute to the development of the university.

The monarch commended Obamuyi for reaching out to traditional institutions at the early stage of his administration, describing the visit as a commendable beginning.

Similarly, the Owa-Ale Adimula of Ikare-Akoko, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeleke Adefemi Adegbite Adedoyin II, gave royal blessings to the VC’s appeal for the construction of legacy projects at AAUA.

The monarch described the university as a collective heritage and assured Obamuyi that the people of Ikare-Akoko would continue to support its growth and development.

The traditional rulers and government representatives commended the Vice Chancellor for his stakeholder engagement, describing the initiative as a demonstration of inclusive leadership and commitment to community-driven development.
