The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Olugbenga Tomola Obamuyi, has hailed the institution's recent recognition by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), describing it as a validation of the university's commitment to transparency, excellence, and inclusive education.

JAMB had earlier honoured AAUA with its Admission Transparency and Inclusive Education Award, with the university emerging as the only state-owned institution among the 10 higher institutions recognised nationwide.

Reacting to the award, Prof. Obamuyi said the recognition reaffirmed AAUA's status as Nigeria's leading state university and one of Africa's foremost institutions in teaching, research, and community service.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the honour also reflects the quality of graduates produced by the university, noting that AAUA alumni continue to distinguish themselves both within Nigeria and internationally.

"The significance of this award is multi-pronged. AAUA's status as the only state university on the honours list has once again confirmed its undeniable position as the Best State University in Nigeria," he said.

He described the recognition as a testament to the university's culture of excellence, diligence, and commitment to merit, adding that it aligns with the founding vision of the institution and its drive to build a world-class university.

Prof. Obamuyi also commended the university's Admissions Committee, led by Prof. Adebisi Olonisakin, for its role in securing the award, describing the achievement as a challenge for the entire university community to strive for greater excellence.

He urged staff and students to embrace the institution's renewed vision of transforming AAUA into a global hub for knowledge production, research, innovation, and human development.

"As we celebrate this milestone, I urge us all to buy into our new vision and adopt an award-winning mentality in all we do," the Vice Chancellor said.

He added that by embracing the university's "AAUA FIRST Strategy," members of the institution would collectively build a stronger and more globally competitive university.
