The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency in the 2027 National Assembly election, Michael Akintomide, has appealed to aggrieved members of the party to accept the outcome of the recently concluded primary election and work together for the success of the APC in the general election.

Akintomide made the appeal on Friday in Akure while addressing supporters who turned out in large numbers to welcome him and other APC candidates returning from Abuja after the conclusion of the party's primary election process and submission of candidates' names, a development that caused heavy traffic in parts of the state capital.

The APC candidate urged party faithful to remain calm and respect the supremacy of the party, stressing that the National Working Committee (NWC) conducted the primary in accordance with the party's constitution and that its decision should be respected by all members.

«"There is no need for agitation. For clarity's sake, the National Working Committee has spoken and there is party supremacy. Whatever they are saying on social media that is contrary to the position of the party should be ignored. Even if there are protests, don't join them. Believe in the process. The process has produced credible candidates," Akintomide said.»

He expressed confidence that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the leader of the APC in Ondo State, would work with other party leaders to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Appreciating supporters for the warm reception, Akintomide described the turnout as evidence that the people stood firmly behind his candidacy, adding that his ambition was to provide effective representation through quality legislation and people-oriented policies.

The APC flag bearer also dismissed reports that the party secretariat was shut during his arrival, insisting that the crowd that welcomed him reflected the true strength of the APC. He urged members to move beyond the primaries and focus on ensuring victory for the party at the polls.

On concerns that disagreements arising from the primaries could affect the APC's electoral fortunes, Akintomide described such disputes as a normal feature of internal democracy, expressing confidence that members would eventually unite in the overall interest of the party.

Also speaking at the rally, former Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Ebenezer Akinsulure, described Akintomide's emergence, popularly known as Ajilo, as a victory for the people of Ondo. He said the large turnout of supporters at the reception reflected the candidate's popularity and widespread acceptance among party members and residents.
