The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital, Akure, has dismissed allegations circulating among staff that the Chief Medical Director, Professor Olusegun Ojo, is conducting selective biometric capturing under the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to favour certain individuals.

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit, Tope Fayehun, the hospital described the claims as false and malicious, aimed at damaging the reputation of the CMD and the institution.

The management clarified that the only approved biometric exercise currently ongoing is the IPPIS Directorate exercise, which commenced on Monday, June 8, 2026. It stressed that the CMD has not authorised or participated in any selective capturing process.

It added that all biometric processes under the Federal IPPIS system at the hospital are being carried out in line with federal guidelines and under the supervision of authorised personnel.

The hospital also raised concerns over alleged fraudulent activities involving the sale or promise of appointment letters and employment opportunities within the institution, describing such acts as criminal.

Management warned that it is already looking into the matter and would take appropriate action against those involved.

Staff and members of the public were urged to remain calm and avoid spreading rumours, while supporting ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability.

The statement reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to fairness and welfare of staff, noting that the exercise is part of efforts to secure its “Approved Takeoff Establishment” from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

It called for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise and continued institutional development.
