A Nigerian academic scholar, Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Niran-Jogbodo, PhD, has formally announced a change of name and appealed to the public, institutions, and professional bodies to recognize her new official identity.

In a statement made available to journalists, the scholar disclosed that she has changed her name from Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Jogbodo, PhD to Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Niran-Jogbodo, PhD.
She explained that the decision followed her resolve to adopt the officially recognized surname of her nuclear family.

According to her, while “Jogbodo” remains the extended family name of her husband, “Niran-Jogbodo” is the compound surname derived from her husband’s personal and family names.

Mrs. Niran-Jogbodo noted that all her children have borne the surname Niran-Jogbodo from birth, adding that the change became necessary to ensure consistency in family identity and official documentation.

The scholar further stated that all legal and court procedures relating to the change of name had been duly completed, making the new name valid for all official and legal purposes.

She therefore urged colleagues, associates, institutions, and members of the public to henceforth address and recognize her as Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Niran-Jogbodo, PhD in all records, correspondences, and transactions.

According to the statement, all documents previously bearing the name Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Jogbodo, PhD remain valid and should be regarded as belonging to the same person now officially known as Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Niran-Jogbodo, PhD.

She also appealed to relevant authorities and professional bodies to take note of the development and update their records accordingly.

The statement was personally signed by Mrs. Fadekemi Bosede Niran-Jogbodo, PhD.
