A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Akinbowale Ogbonlaye, has officially obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the Akoko South West Constituency II seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly.
Ogbonlaye, popularly known as “Medulla,” completed the process in accordance with the provisions of Section 84 of the Electoral Act, 2026, and the guidelines issued by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP for the nomination of candidates.
The development marks another major step in the political ambition of the Akungba-Akoko-born politician, who had earlier declared his intention to contest the Assembly seat under the PDP platform.
Speaking after obtaining the forms, Ogbonlaye described his aspiration as a mission driven by the desire to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to Akoko South West Constituency II.
He stated that the decision to contest was inspired by his passion for service and commitment to improving the welfare of the people across the constituency.
The PDP aspirant also appealed to party leaders, members and residents of the constituency to support his ambition, assuring them of responsible and people-oriented leadership if elected.
According to him, the people of the constituency deserve quality representation that would ensure their voices are heard and their needs adequately addressed at the state legislature.
Ogbonlaye promised to facilitate developmental projects and empowerment programmes capable of improving the living conditions of youths, women and other vulnerable groups within the constituency.
He further pledged to maintain close interaction with traditional rulers, community leaders and stakeholders in order to promote inclusive governance and sustainable development.
The aspirant reiterated his determination to uphold the principles of accountability, transparency and dedication in the discharge of legislative responsibilities.
Political observers in the constituency believe his entrance into the race may reshape the contest ahead of the PDP primary election, considering his growing popularity among youths and party supporters.
A statement issued by the Medulla Media Team expressed appreciation to supporters and reiterated Ogbonlaye’s commitment to serving the people of Akoko South West Constituency II with integrity, dedication and sincerity of purpose.
