The Ondo State chapter of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has dissociated itself from a convention allegedly being organised by individuals parading themselves as leaders of the church’s youth wing in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the church warned members of the public, particularly youths, against attending, registering for, or making financial contributions towards the convention, describing the organisers as impostors.
The church stated that the individuals behind the programme were neither recognised members of the C/S Unification Church in Akure nor known to the Ondo State organ, local government structure, or the national secretariat of the church.
According to the statement, the organisers were fraudulently using the name and identity of the church to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.
“The persons organising and advertising this convention are not members of C/S Unification Church of Nigeria in Akure and Ondo State,” the statement read.
It added that the church believed the individuals were using the organisation’s name to deceive and extort money from unsuspecting youths and residents.
The church therefore categorically distanced itself from the event and any associated activities, communications, or fundraising efforts linked to it.
It also advised members and the general public to report any invitation, solicitation, or request for money connected with the convention to the state organ of the church or its national secretariat.
The church reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of the organisation and ensuring the safety and welfare of youths within its fold.
The statement was jointly signed by Pastor Olakunle B. Martins, CPRO; Snr Special Ap John Ogundele, Secretary; and Primate Dr Ade-Ademisokun Turton Onibode, Chairman.
