Warns members against registration, donation to event organisers


The Ondo State chapter of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has dissociated itself from a purported youth convention allegedly being organised by individuals claiming to represent the church in the state.

In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday, the church described the convention as illegal, warning members of the public, especially youths, against registering for or donating money towards the event.

The church leadership stated that the organisers of the convention were unknown to both the state and national structures of the church, stressing that they were not recognised members of the C&S Unification Church in Ondo State.

According to the statement, the individuals behind the convention were neither known to the Local Government nor the State Organ and National Secretariat of the Unification.

The church further alleged that the organisers were using the church’s name and identity fraudulently to mislead unsuspecting youths and members of the public.

“The persons organising and advertising this convention are not members of C/S Unification Church of Nigeria in Akure and Ondo State. They are not known to the Local Government, State Organ or to the National Secretariat of the Unification,” the statement read.

The church therefore urged all members, recognised youth leaders and the general public to avoid any activities connected with the convention, including registration and financial contributions.

It also advised anyone who had received invitations or payment requests from the organisers to treat such messages with caution and report them immediately to the church authorities.

The church said the move became necessary to protect the integrity of the organisation and ensure the safety of youths across the state.

The statement was jointly signed by the church’s Public Relations Officer, Pastor Olakunle B. Martins; Secretary, Snr. Special Apostle John Ogundele; and Chairman, Primate Dr Ade-Ademisokun Turton Onibode.
