The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Ondo State have produced Hon. Adeola Rosemary Fynch and Hon. Stephen Abitogun as candidates for Akure South Constituencies I and II respectively, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fynch emerged as the party’s flag bearer for Akure South Constituency I following a keenly contested exercise, while Abitogun, the incumbent lawmaker, secured the ticket for Akure South Constituency II.

Reacting to her victory, Fynch described the outcome as a strong vote of confidence from party members and constituents.

“It feels good. I’m happy for this honour and the trust bestowed upon me. I thank all my constituency people. They won’t regret this,” she said.

She assured residents of quality representation, promising to prioritise grassroots development if elected into the Ondo State House of Assembly.

“They should expect nothing but quality representation. I have always promised them I will make them proud, and I will put in more effort when I get there,” she added.

In Akure South Constituency II, Abitogun expressed appreciation to party leaders and supporters for what he described as a peaceful and credible primary election.

He commended the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for ensuring a smooth process across the state, noting that the outcome reflected the unity within the party.

“This is a good signal that APC in Ondo State is going to win overwhelmingly in the coming elections, from the presidency to the National Assembly and House of Assembly levels,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Fasua, described the primary process as peaceful and largely consensus-driven, saying it demonstrated growing unity within the APC.

He noted that the absence of major internal disputes showed the party was well-positioned for future electoral success.

“The interest and choice of the people prevailed. This unity is what we are taking to the general election,” Fasua stated.

Party leaders across the constituency called for reconciliation among aspirants and supporters, urging members to close ranks and work together for the success of the APC in the 2027 elections.

The primaries are widely seen as a key test of internal cohesion for the APC in Ondo State as preparations intensify for the next general election cycle.
