Says move follow widespread calls from party leaders, women, youth groups

‎The National Vice Chairman (South West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke, has declared his intention to contest the Ondo South Senatorial seat, pledging to deliver people-first representation if elected.
‎
‎He said the move followed widespread calls from party leaders, women, youth groups and other stakeholders across the senatorial district who urged him to join the race and offer his experience in public service.
‎
‎Kekemeke described the level of encouragement as overwhelming, noting that after months of reflection and consultations with political associates, family members and key stakeholders, he could no longer ignore what he called a “historic call to service.”
‎
‎According to him, the support he has received reflects strong confidence in his capacity, integrity and track record in governance. He said the consultations made it clear that stepping forward was necessary in order to respond to the expectations of the people.
‎
‎He recalled his long political journey, including his service as Minority Leader in the old Ondo State House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as Commissioner for Works, Lands and Housing.
‎
‎Kekemeke also served as APC State Chairman, where he played a key role in strengthening the party’s structure in Ondo State, and currently holds the position of Zonal Chairman/National Vice Chairman (South West).
‎
‎He said his aspiration is driven by the need to build a broad-based coalition that reflects the diversity of Ondo South and ensures stronger and more responsive representation at the National Assembly.
‎
‎Following consultations with the state governor and party leadership, Kekemeke said he has resolved to seek the APC ticket for the senatorial election, stressing that his ambition is anchored on service.
‎
‎“If elected, I will provide fair, fearless and quality representation. My legislative agenda will prioritise the needs and aspirations of our people,” he said.
‎
‎He added that he would remain a strong voice for Ondo South, Ondo State and its people, noting that his leadership would be guided by humility, duty and accountability.
‎
‎Kekemeke also reflected on his earlier political experience, recalling that in 2002 he had the opportunity to contest for the Senate seat but stepped aside to allow the late Senator H.O. Ehinlanwo emerge as candidate.
‎
‎He said the renewed calls for him to re-enter the race reflect a strong desire among constituents for experienced and inclusive leadership.
‎
‎“I am deeply inspired by the overwhelming support and readiness of the people to go all the way with me. Together, we can ensure governance is felt at the grassroots,” he said.
‎
‎Kekemeke reaffirmed his readiness to serve if given the mandate, saying, “I am ready to serve again if our people will send me. Here I am.”
