...As Poroye Praises Aiyedatiwa’s Consensus Move, Assures APC Candidate of Full Support

The political atmosphere in Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State is gaining traction ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate, Pastor Leke Akingboye, intensifies consultations with key stakeholders across the constituency.

In a strategic move to consolidate support within the party, Akingboye paid a visit to the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, at his office, in what observers described as a calculated political engagement.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts by the APC candidate to strengthen alliances, build consensus, and position the party for victory in the forthcoming polls.

Speaking during the meeting, Poroye commended the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for adopting a consensus approach in selecting the party’s candidate, describing the move as a reflection of inclusive leadership and internal cohesion.

He noted that Akingboye’s emergence was not only strategic but also well-deserved, given his years of loyalty, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the progressive movement.

Poroye traced Akingboye’s political journey from the days of the Action Congress (AC), through the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), to the present APC, highlighting his consistency and grassroots engagement over the years.

He described the APC candidate as a committed party stalwart whose contributions have helped sustain and strengthen the party’s structure in Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas.

The OSOPADEC chairman further pointed out that Akingboye’s roots in Aiyetoro community position him to bring national attention to the devastating effects of sea incursion on the area and other riverine communities.

According to him, effective representation at the National Assembly would provide a platform to advocate for urgent federal intervention and long-term solutions to the ecological challenges affecting the constituency.

Poroye also recalled that Akingboye had previously contested for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ilaje Constituency I, in 2015 under the APC, while Aiyedatiwa was then the party’s candidate for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.

He noted that both men worked tirelessly during that period to strengthen the progressive platform in the constituency, building structures that remain relevant to the party’s current strength.

Reaffirming his support, Poroye assured Akingboye of his commitment to mobilising party members and engaging with aggrieved stakeholders to ensure unity within the APC ahead of the elections.

He expressed confidence that with sustained consultations, reconciliation, and grassroots mobilisation, the APC stands a strong chance of securing victory in the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in 2027.
