Gunmen have demanded ₦100 million for the release of Mr. Joseph Aladesuyi, Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State, who was abducted on Monday morning along with two others from his farm in the Kajola area of Ilu-Abo near Akure Airport.
Family source disclosed that the kidnappers called on Tuesday around 7:00 a.m., issuing the ransom demand and leaving no room for negotiation.
The sources described the last 24 hours as a period of intense anxiety, particularly because Aladesuyi was reportedly shot in his hand during the abduction.
“They called this morning and demanded ₦100 million before releasing him. They spoke briefly and did not allow us to respond. We have been very worried, but the call gives us some hope. Our main concern now is his health, as we were told he was shot in one hand while being dragged away,” a family member said, speaking under anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.
The abduction has heightened fear among residents of Ilu-Abo and neighbouring communities, who lamented the escalating insecurity in the area.
Many residents expressed frustration over the perceived inaction of government authorities in addressing kidnappings and violent attacks that have plagued the community in recent weeks.
