‎The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has thrown its weight behind the revised 2027 general election timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as realistic, structured and fair to all political parties.

‎The party also dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the timetable was designed to favour President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, insisting that the claims were speculative and lacked factual foundation.

‎Speaking during a question-and-answer session with journalists in Akure at the weekend, the APC State Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, said the electoral body’s schedule reflects administrative foresight and institutional balance rather than partisan considerations.

‎Otaloro particularly commended INEC’s requirement for political parties to maintain digital membership registers, describing it as a progressive reform that would enhance transparency and deepen internal democracy.

‎According to him, the introduction of digital registers would reduce disputes often associated with manipulated membership lists and strengthen the credibility of party primaries ahead of the 2027 polls.
‎
‎He noted that the timetable was released well in advance of the election cycle, providing sufficient time for serious political parties to comply with regulatory requirements and properly organise their internal processes.
‎
‎“Properly structured political organisations should not encounter difficulty maintaining updated membership databases or conducting orderly primaries. These are foundational responsibilities of any credible political party,” he said.b

‎He added that the APC welcomes reforms aimed at promoting electoral integrity and accountability.
‎
‎Responding to the ADC’s allegation of bias, Otaloro maintained that INEC operates within clearly defined constitutional parameters and that its scheduling decisions are administrative and legal determinations, not partisan instruments.
‎
‎He warned that politicising procedural timelines could undermine public confidence in democratic institutions, stressing that elections are determined by performance credibility rather than conspiracy narratives.
‎
‎The Ondo APC reaffirmed its confidence that a transparent electoral process, combined with what it described as verifiable governance performance under President Tinubu, would ultimately shape the outcome of the 2027 general elections in favour of the ruling party.
